Our School Vision

Byron Community School provides innovative and wholistic education, which develops children's potential for intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical learning. We encourage positive action within the school and wider community. We provide a safe, welcoming and compassionate environment where children, parents and staff are honoured. We celebrate school traditions, community and global events.

Being a small school, we have been able to build a cohesive working vision committed to fostering an informed community where all members feel heard, supported and involved. The intended result is that everyone feels ownership for the school and its programs.

Over the years our staff have worked very effectively as a team and have implemented school wide continuums that plot learning targets in relation to both syllabus and behavioural expectations. They, with input and feedback from parents and students, have been able to translate vision statements and objectives into everyday reality.

In general, the welfare and development of each child is of prime importance with the opportunity of individual programs being set up where appropriate. Consultation with parents is seen as a priority and facilitated by open communication throughout the school community. This is made possible by clear and organised channels and pathways of communication.

We continue to evaluate our directions and goals and change accordingly. At Byron Community School we are committed to developing life skills - where freedom is coupled with responsibility and where a high standard is achieved in an atmosphere of good fun.
