My favourite painting is very famous and is called "Starry Night" The swirling brush strokes a re full of the energy of nature and it reminds me of fire, wind and sea.


I love the thick surface of the paint and the curving shapes. I don't know Van Gogh's favourite painting but I know he liked the paintings of a French artist called Millet who was born about 40 years before him.


Millet painted realistic scenes of common peasants and one called "The Sower" was one Vincent particularly admired. Vincent also painted peasant life in his earlier works when he still lived in Holland.
